Urban Center Bologna is a communication center by means of the city shows and talks about the urban and territorial changes that are going to happen in its area. It provides to everybody information and data about Bologna and its hinterland and it gathers and shares thoughts about the future of the city.

Urban Center Bologna is the referral site for everyone involved in the urban design processes, it is a place where public institutions, residents, associations, communities, economic and social stakeholders come together with the aim to exchange ideas and compare projects. It encourages and looks after the commitment of residences to urban themes, by organizing and managing participative workshops.
Located in the core of the city, on the second floor of “Salaborsa”, The Urban Center Bologna major activities consist in:

THE EXHIBITIONS
The Urban Center Bologna permanent exhibition displays the urban strategies and the project which will map out the face of Bologna over the next fifteen years. Focused on the urban changes, it is organized by themes, strategies and projects. Contents are periodically updated by the Members of  the Urban Center Bologna Committee. The exhibition makes use of wall panels, floor cubes, scale models, screens for the projection of video and multimedia materials, interactive sites and the virtual theatre developed by CINECA (the Interuniversity Consortium), offering a three-dimensional display of the region.
The temporary exhibitions delve into particular matters. Moving between the individual local project to town planning themes and general architectural interest, they contribute to a broadening of user knowledge on regional changes and urban studies.

THE MEETINGS
Presentations, lectures, workshops, debates and meetings generate an open exchange of ideas on subjects of strict topical interest. They also provide opportunities for the residents to better find out some individual topics, to compare opinions, to meet reputed planners, to bring forward proposals for new initiatives, generally encourage participation in the decision making process for the future of the city.

PARTICIPATIVE WORKSHOPS
The participative-planning workshops support the urban changes in certain areas of the city, directly involving local communities and residents at the various stages of the planning project.

COMMUNICATION
The Urban Center Bologna conceives and continually updates ideas in order to convey its initiatives. The Urban Center Bologna documents the principal activities undertaken, both through a books series "Leggere e scrivere la città" (Reading and writing the city) and through constantly-available presentation papers of its projects.

THE URBAN CENTER BOLOGNA COMMITTEE
Urban Center Bologna is managed by a Committee composed of the bodies and institutions mainly involved in the transformation of the city and its hinterland and in the promotion of the "Bologna system": Bologna Municipality, Province of Bologna, Fondazione Carisbo, Fondazione del Monte di Bologna, University of Bologna, ATC, HERA Bologna, Airport G. Marconi, Bologna Fiere, ACER, Finanziaria Bologna Metropolitana, Camera di Commercio, Ordine degli Architetti di Bologna, Ordine degli Ingegneri di Bologna.
